Resources for Children and Families

The Galway City Partnership is a local and community development company working in Galway City. We have been in existence since 1996 and our aim is to tackle disadvantage and social exclusion.

Our Education Officer, Mary McHugh, supports the delivery of the ‘Incredible Years Programme’ across the City, this evidence-based programme aims to improve social and emotional competencies among children and support school readiness, in order for students and parents to participate fully in school life.

Mary has developed a number of resources for Children and Families and these can be accessed here, you will find videos on preparing your child to start Primary school, transferring to Secondary School, a suite of ‘Wellness with Wally’ videos and links to other resources.

Wellbeing With Wally

The Wellbeing with Wally video series helps schools, teachers and parents support children during the Covid 19 Pandemic. Wally talks to children about what to do during the lockdown. Wally is part of an internationally acclaimed evidence-based programme called INCREDIBLE YEARS DINA IN THE CLASSROOM. Galway City partnership would like to thank Paul Monroe, Principal of Radharc na Mara for his support of this collaborative project and the Incredible Years for permission to share these videos. And of course, we would like to thank the person behind Wally, Anne Marie Chadwick from Radharc na Mara Primary School.
